Pickled food and risk of gastric cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis of English and Chinese literature.

Increased consumption of diets rich in pickled foods may increase an individual’s chances of developing stomach cancer.

This study evaluated the correlation between regular intake of pickled foods/vegetables and the development of gastric (stomach) cancer. Researchers conducted a thorough meta-analysis on nutritional and clinical data extracted from 10 prospective and 50 case-control studies.

Researchers observed a high incidence of stomach cancer among regular consumers of pickled foods. Consistent consumption of pickled foods was found to increase the risk of gastric cancer by 50% in this study. The results of this meta-analysis show that high intake of pickled foods was associated with a greater risk of stomach cancer.
